First produced in 2005, the Chrysler 300 is a line of full-sized executive cars. Chrysler has announced that the Chrysler 300 lineup will feature three new models. The 2012 Chrysler SRT8 is the most powerful of the three and will feature the look of the 2011 Chrysler 300C. The Chrysler 300S will be similar to the 2011 Chrysler 300 but will feature added exterior accessories. The Chrysler 300C Executive Series is aimed at professionals and contains the Uconnect Touch System. Chrysler has also announced that both the 2012 Chrysler 300C Executive Series and the 2012 Chrysler 300S will be aimed at younger buyers and feature several customizations that appeal to younger generations.
Of the three new 300 models, Chrysler has only released full specs for the 2012 SRT8. The Chrysler 2012 SRT8 will be an E-segment sedan and will be introduced in the summer of 2011. The 2012 SRT8 will come with a standard 6.4-liter HEMI engine. The HEMI engine will be a 90-degree V-type, and it will be liquid-cooled. The engine will have a displacement of 392 cubic inches and a bore X stroke of 4.09 X 3.72. The engine will be 465 horsepower with a 465 lb.-ft. torque. The 2012 SRT8 will have an oil capacity of 7 liters and a coolant capacity of 14 quarts. The HEMI engine also comes with dual closed-coupled three-way catalytic converters and quad-heated oxygen sensors for emission controls.
People who purchase Chrysler's 2012 SRT8 will have the option of an adaptive electronic control or an Auto Stick driver-interactive manual control. The SRT8 fill feature a 220-amp alternator and a H7 case, 730 CCA, maintenance-free battery. The SRT8's exhaust will be dual 2.75-inch active with 4-inch round tips.
The 2012 Chrysler SRT8 will have a front seating capacity of two and a rear seating capacity of three. Front passengers will have 38.6 inches of headroom, 41.8 inches of legroom, 59.5 inches of shoulder room and 56.2 inches of hip room. Rear passengers will have 37.9 inches of headroom, 40.1 inches of legroom, 3.9 inches of leg clearance, 57.7 inches of shoulder room and 56.1 inches of hip room. The SRT8 has a luggage compartment volume of 16.3 cubic feet and an EPA interior volume index of 122.6 cubic feet.
The SRT8's layout is longitudinal front engine with rear wheel drive, and its construction is unitized steel body with aluminum hood. The Chrysler SRT8 features an SRT tuned adaptive damping suspension. The SRT8 comes equipped with SRT tuned rack and pinion steering and hydraulic power assist.
